NEW National Air & Space Museum! Spend a day at the The Smithsonian Institution's NEW National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, located at Washington Dulles International Airport, VA. Be one of the first to tour the New National Air and Space Museum – the first Smithsonian located off of the mall. The new 760,057-square-foot Udvar-Hazy Center is situated on 176.5 acres in Loudoun County, VA. Unfortunately for visitors from out-of-town there is very little public transportation to and from the museum. However, the TouringCompany.com will be providing fun, relaxing transportation on a regular basis on weekends starting in January of 2004. Tour the exhibit hangars, observe air traffic at Dulles Airport from the observation tower, watch skilled museum specialists at work in the restoration hangar, see the beauty of flight on a large-format screen theatre, and more. Over 200 aircraft and 135 spacecraft are on display. Walk among artifacts on the floor and view hanging aircraft from elevated walkways (skyways). Many engines, rockets, satellites, helicopters, airliners, ultra-lights, and experimental flying machines will be displayed for the first time in a museum setting.

Washington Monument, Washington, DC Spend sometime at the top of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. The monument is located on the National Mall, Washington, DC Why wait in line if you don’t have to, let TouringCompany.com take you to and from one of the most visible landmarks in the world. Each passenger aboard the bus will have a pre-timed ticket to enter and ascend the monument. Enjoy breathtaking views of the nation’s capital from the top of the newly renovated monument. Below are a few facts about this national treasure. Designed by Robert Mills (b. Charleston, S.C., Aug. 12, 1781, d. Mar. 3, 1855) in 1838, to follow the form of an Egyptian obelisk, it rises more than 168 m (550 ft) above the city and is the largest masonry structure in the world. The actual construction of the monument began in 1848 and was not completed until 1884, almost 30 years after the architect's death, due to lack of funds and the intervention of the Civil War. A difference in shading of the marble (visible approximately 150 feet up) clearly delineates the initial construction from its resumption in 1876. It is generally considered fortunate that the Greek Doric rotunda Mills planned for the base of the monument was never built.
